Strike a Pose: En Vogue 30th Birthday Party

Come on...VOGUE! Check out these gorgeous photos taken by one of my favorite photographers, Andrea Taylor (www.andreataylorstudio.com). For this fashionista's 30th birthday party, I designed the custom monogram used throughout the decor, on her cake, and of course, her invitations and party favors. Punches of silver and rhinestones on the invite add some bling to the occasion. The whole affair was organized with flair and precision by event planner Michelle Gainey, of Lemiga Events.  For more images and sources of this style-studded event, please visit http://www.atlantaoccasions.com/gallery/chic-purple-birthday-party-by-andrea-taylor-studio-lemiga-events-2710.

Hosting a Baby Shower?

I just mailed this cutie baby shower invite and wanted to share it! Since the couple doesn't know the sex of the baby, adding accents in chocolate with a soft teal keeps it contemporary and non gender specific. The hip but juvenile typeface adds to the theme. Don't forget to include registry info; having a few online sources is perfect for family who can't be there in person.

A Thought on Color Trends...

I have to say, when other wedding professionals lead a discussion topic with the word "trend," I tend to cringe a bit. I mean, do we all want to be followers? I think trend discussions are great for maximizing budgets or gleaning new ideas to consolidate paper usage (yes, this is coming from a stationery designer), but do we really want to match everyone else out there?

When I speak to brides who are beginning their planning, I suggest to pay little attention to those color "trends." What is YOUR favorite color? What time of year are you getting married? Where is the ceremony? On the coast? In a backyard? In a gorgeous and glamorous ballroom? Answers to those questions should drive your color decisions, not what the current "trends" are.

But we all like suggestions, don't we? I do! What color skirt should I wear with that blouse? What color paint looks best with my cabinets? So, I've decided to start a bi-weekly post of color combinations - whether they exist on paper or I find them elsewhere, like in the Pottery Barn catalog or in a fabric pattern. Where's your inspiration?

Since this is the time of year when we look to the winter wedding, consider this combination: silver, graphite, ruby, and a hit of whimsy with a black and white polka dot (favor boxes?). All these fabulous new colors and patterns colors are available through the Envelopments product line. Elegant and classy!

Wedding Stationery Guide

As a licensed Envelopments designer, I love when they put together something I can share with my clients. There is a lot of terrific information in this article from their blog. This photo showcases some of the new patterned card stock - to die for! We're combining lots of papers and print methods these days, mixing patterned stocks and printing offset on stock that was typically only used for letterpress. Creativity doesn't have to mean lots of motifs and color; sometimes just a hit of the right color and a classy motif used in a variety of ways can pump up the Wow! factor.

I'm so excited! The new Envelopments line arrives this week! 113 new stocks...including 100% PC and letterpress...favor containers...new pockets...get your creative game on! What should we design first??
