A Thought on Color Trends...

I have to say, when other wedding professionals lead a discussion topic with the word "trend," I tend to cringe a bit. I mean, do we all want to be followers? I think trend discussions are great for maximizing budgets or gleaning new ideas to consolidate paper usage (yes, this is coming from a stationery designer), but do we really want to match everyone else out there?

When I speak to brides who are beginning their planning, I suggest to pay little attention to those color "trends." What is YOUR favorite color? What time of year are you getting married? Where is the ceremony? On the coast? In a backyard? In a gorgeous and glamorous ballroom? Answers to those questions should drive your color decisions, not what the current "trends" are.

But we all like suggestions, don't we? I do! What color skirt should I wear with that blouse? What color paint looks best with my cabinets? So, I've decided to start a bi-weekly post of color combinations - whether they exist on paper or I find them elsewhere, like in the Pottery Barn catalog or in a fabric pattern. Where's your inspiration?

Since this is the time of year when we look to the winter wedding, consider this combination: silver, graphite, ruby, and a hit of whimsy with a black and white polka dot (favor boxes?). All these fabulous new colors and patterns colors are available through the Envelopments product line. Elegant and classy!
